Nestled in the heart of Martinsville, Nicholas Montessori School, an American Montessori Society affiliate, has provided a rich, nurturing and educational environment for children    2 1/2 to 6 years of age since its inception in 1966.

 

The Montessori philosophy is based upon mutual respect between adults and children and belief in a child's ability to succeed. The basic aim of the Montessori approach is to cultivate the natural curiosity and delight in discovery that is present in all children.

 

Within each carefully prepared classroom environment, children are encouraged to explore and learn with all of their senses as they acquire the confidence and motivation they need to fulfill their greatest potential. Certified Montessori teachers present hands-on educational materials that are individually designed to support children's development, build on their interests and nurture their enthusiasm.

The pre-school / kindergarten environment focuses on five distinct areas :

 

     Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language Arts and Culture
